BEHIND THE SCENES

ON LOCATION

For this shoot I wanted something incredibly simple and out in nature. We were hoping to hike up to a field but it was way too hot and lugging up (3) 30lb light stands, lighting, camera, apple box, and Malarie's wardrobe just wasn't possible. As we were scouting locations I found a spot right off the main road I thought could work and because the light was fading quickly we decided to give it a whirl.

THE LIGHTING SET-UP

A simple light angled high above Malarie cast enough light to cover her, the backdrop, and a little bit of the environment. Because I wanted a soft look for the photos I used a diffusion panel in the umbrella. Unfortunately I forgot sandbags to weight the stand down so I was constantly running over to make sure the wind didn't carry the umbrella away.
